Achilleas Ioannidis (Gatekeeper) is a painter, born in Thessaloniki in 1966.
He attended basic drawing and painting classes at the workshop of Thanasis Papiotis in Thessaloniki in the late 1980s. Then he moved to Crete where he stayed for eight years, while at the same time he studied and collaborated with the artist-set designer Demosthenes Charalambidis.He currently lives and works in Crete, where he continues to develop his artistic work through constant experimentation with various materials.
In recent years he has collaborated on an artistic level with Maria Pantazi (Psyence Vedava). Together they created a series of paintings called “participatory visions” and held three exhibitions (one in Amsterdam as part of the academic conference “Science and Esotericism” and two in Thessaloniki (one of which was an exhibition of processed photography printed on wood).In addition to painting, he was involved in the art of mosaic and wood constructions.
He has executed orders in various parts of Greece (Thessaloniki, Crete, Mount Athos, Halkidiki), Spain (Barcelona), the Netherlands (Utrecht, Amsterdam) and the South of France, while at the same time he has held four solo exhibitions of paintings and constructions in Thessaloniki (2000s).
